About the Artist
Melissa Ellen is a self-taught mixed-media artist from Nashville, TN, whose work merges collective memory with modern perspectives. Growing up with a deep appreciation for history and storytelling, she was drawn to layered imagery and the way familiar visuals evolve over time. She enjoys working with repurposed materials—magazine pieces, vintage book pages, and found paper—to blend nostalgia with fresh curiosity, inviting viewers to see the past through a contemporary lens.
Melissa’s creative path has taken many turns. In her twenties, she specialized in print design before founding and running a successful magazine and online marketplace in the construction industry. After stepping away to raise a young family, she reignited her passion for art and has since embraced her practice with renewed purpose.
Now living in Nashville with her husband and four children, Melissa spends her days creating in her home studio, layering history, memory, and culture in ways that spark conversation and connection.
